Product Description

CTC JOSLYN 9925BLT W/TDR & WIDEBAND OPT C9925BLT-1201 NEW Product Capabilities A step ahead of the industry, the BLT is the leading subscriber loop test tool used by service technicians for special service construction and cable repair. With its intuitive interface and user-friendly keys, this compact test set offers increased measurement, speed and accuracy.

Enhanced with the addition of optional wideband loop qualification and fully functional TDR feature packages, the BLT's compact size promotes efficiency and convenience with the opportunity for future expansion.

The BLT is cutting-edge multifunction technology, combining a wide range of testing capabilities with the option for future test modules to be added. Hardware additions are simple and software enhancements can be downloaded directly from a PC, allowing the BLT to support varied test technologies. TDR Capabilities The TDR test upgrade allows the BLT to perform fault location using the Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) hardware/software package. This function is complementary to the existing opens, splits, load coil, and resistive fault location (RFL) functions of the standard BLTŪ unit. In many cases, the TDR will provide confirmation of those test results. In addition, the TDR function determines the precise location of bridge taps, poor splice joints, water damage, and load coil distance, which are nearly impossible to identify in the frequency domain alone.

The TDR test upgrade allows rapid, single-ended, location of cable faults, characteristics, and network elements, such as: Bridge taps/laterals Partial opens caused by poor splice joints Low-resistance faults Load coils and build-out capacitors (BOCs) Splits and resplits Water damage

Wideband capabilities The Wideband Loop Qualification upgrade allows the BLT to perform insertion loss testing on copper facilities for the following wideband digital service types: DDS (56 kbps and 64 kbps), ISDN (basic rate and primary rate), T1, E1, ADSL, and HDSL.

It also provides testing for user-defined service types. Qualification is based on comparing the insertion loss of the loop to that of the circuit layout design at a specific frequency.

Pairs are qualified on the basis of the insertion loss measurement at the maximum energy (Nyquist) frequency of the selected service. This industry-accepted method, traditionally used for DDS and T1 design limits, allows the BLT to measure the cable pair signal loss at the rate the data are transmitted on the cable pair.

Typical faults that can be identified using the BLT wideband loop qualification option are: Incorrect circuit design Incorrect cable lengths Incorrect cable gauges Presence of load coils Bridge taps left on the cable pair DC resistance faults

0 dBm signal levels from the sending analyzer (or other source) are graded by the receiving analyzer as either acceptable (A) or unacceptable (U), based on circuit layout design. These limits may be changed by the operator to conform to local company practices.
